What matters now
Two big charging concessions are genuinely open to bid
The West of England Combined Authority's WESTCharge is a 15-year concession advertised at about £167.5m, open until 30 March 2027. Derbyshire County Council's lamp column charging contract, about £187.5m over a 14-year term, is open until 29 September 2026. Both are concession and contract ceilings over long terms rather than council capital spend. They suit operators who can fund and run charging at regional scale, while smaller installers, civils and hardware suppliers realistically enter through the winner's supply chain.
