Hampshire County Council (HCC) owns 14 Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points around Hampshire and the Southern region and has a third party management contract in place for these points. There is pressure from the growth of the EV sales Nationally and in Hampshire, to increase the wider charging point network to support this growth and ensure the transition from fossil fuel vehicles is supported within its and its public sector partners facilities. The benefits of providing EV charge points is supports the reduction of the Council's carbon footprint, encourages EV conversion for its own vehicle fleet, and ensure continued accessibility for EV drivers to visit and benefit from Hampshire's public facing facilities. A further benefit to the Council is the continuation of revenue income from EV users ‘dwell time’ at these facilities which maintains income for its Cafe's and shops.
